Winans Chapel
The Winans Chapel in Leakin Park, a Carpenter Gothic style chapel, was built around 1859 for the Polish immigrant workers employed at the Orianda House of Thomas Winans, the railway magnate who built the Trans-Siberian Railway.
In 1987, the chapel was struck by lightning and damaged extensively. The chapel was restored but over the past 30 years, deterioration set in and the previously restored Southern facade failed badly.
In 2018, C&H Restoration and Renovation replaced all the board and batten siding and water table on the Southern facade, fully stripped all previous paint layers from the chapel, and fully restored all the exterior wood elements of the chapel.
